Almost every day we would see a Mom’s car desperately in need of some steam cleaning, but she didn’t the time because of the kids.  One day a Mom said, “I wish you guys had a Wii here.  That would entertain my kids!”  Of course she was joking because what car wash would have a Wii?  This got me thinking…

And now, only here at Five Star, Wii do!  We are proud to be the first car care center in the nation to offer a Wii game room.  We have transformed our spare room into a Wii game room and have it projecting onto a 124-inch screen.  (When thinking outside of the box; it’s important to think big!)

Your car has many, many different types of oils, lubricants and fluids floating around in it and every single one of them are designed to be changed out at a certain interval. Brake fluid, power steering fluid, rear axle fluid, transmission fluid, engine oil, coolant, etc. Some folks say, “Well, oils is just oil” and that just is not true!

Our staff are experts on what your car needs in order to run at its maximum efficiency for the longest period of time. We don’t forget to replace the plug in your oil pan or overfill your transmission fluid or tell you that you need to change a fluid when it is perfectly fine. Some shops pay their technicians $7.50 an hour so they can offer a cheaper oil change, but do you really want some making minimum wage working on your car? Also, other places have much higher turnover; meaning you could have someone ‘training’ on your vehicle.

We don’t use “recycled” oil; which, unless it goes through very specific processes, is not optimal for your vehicle. We send all of our used oil to be recycled, which gets refined and is sold to other oil change shops. We always use new oil for your vehicle from trusted brands like Mobile1, Green Motor Oil and Castrol. Our commitment is to our community and that means we want to put vehicles back on the road in the safest condition possible.

Remember folks, getting your oil changed with us allows experts to look under your hood, check your systems and make sure your vehicle is running smoothly. These guys love what they do and they are paid well to do it. To sacrifice quality to save a few extra dollars for ourselves is just not in line with our business values. We care about our customers too much to do that!

When a prankster’s attention turns to your vehicle, things can get ugly. Just like the picture illustrates, car pranks can become downright dangerous. Also, Halloween is on a Sunday this year, which means that if anything happens to your car on the scariest night of the year, you may not be able to get your kids to school or get to work! So, what can you do to prevent anyone from messing with your vehicles this year?
First, if you have a garage, make sure your vehicle is in it and the door is shut if you are not outside for extended periods of time. Also, if there is a side door to your garage, make sure it is locked because some pranksters have guts and will push the limit by pulling off epic pranks. Sometimes it’s even worse than that, and they might steal things!

Second, make sure your car itself is locked and that the alarm is set if you have one. Even if your car is in your garage, why not lock it? It won’t hurt you at all and it very well could help.
Third, if you know that pranks are a common practice in your neighborhood every Halloween, set up a neighborhood watch with your neighbors. Take turns glancing outside during the night to make sure no one is taking advantage of an empty street.

Lastly, if you can’t put your car in the garage, make sure you leave it parked where it is well lit and easily seen from your house or apartment. If you live downtown, try and park your vehicle in a more public space with lots of other vehicles around. A lone car on a deserted street is just begging to get pumpkined, shellacked or otherwise.

            The evolution and success of the car wash industry directly reflects the success and growth of the vehicle industry (of course). Thankfully, the automatic car wash has evolved to provide a safe and reliable service for your vehicle. It used to be that car washes would leave scratches on the paint. Well, to be honest, there are still some car washes that are not maintained properly that will leave scratches on your vehicle, but they are few and don’t last too long.

            One of the great advantages of up-to-date automatic car washes is the power washing capabilities combined with the chemicals and non-scratch brushes. You should run it through an automatic car wash like ours and then allow our associates to make sure it’s dry and thoroughly clean on a regular basis as well.

            Besides, isn’t it fun to watch all those machines were into motion, making your car sparkle like new? Your kids love it. Eventually we want to install a soap cannon so you (probably your kids) can have the fun of sudsing your car yourself.

Yes, we are talking about your car, but not in the way you would think. Lots of folks in the Lakeway/Hudson Bend area own beautiful cars, and they want to keep them that way. Of course, so do we and that’s why we are in the car washing and detailing business. However, there are other things, perhaps even more important things we would like to keep clean, like our children or our pets or even more important, our environment.

For a business that does what we do, it is a challenge and a necessity to observe the best practices we can use to ensure environmental safety and sustainability. First and foremost is our car wash. Lately, we have had a few customers ask us why we closed on Sundays and I would like to explain to our valued customers how we came to this decision.

Near the end of 2009, our new management team got together to discuss where we wanted our business to go and what it will take to get it there.  We began by deciding what our core values are.  You can find these values everywhere from our website to our lobby, or just ask any employee and they will tell you.  We all agreed that People will always be our number 1 value.  This group of people consists of not only customers, but employees and co-workers as well. 

To give our customers such a high level of customer service, it takes a happy, motivated, and an extremely dedicated group of employees.  As a company, we realized that bringing employees in on Sundays sometimes meant that we were causing our employees to not have a chance to worship, fathers to miss their child’s first game, mother’s to work on Mother’s Day, and not letting friends get together and share a day off.  We realized that having employees work on Sundays is not in line with our most important core value. 

Beginning January 1rst, Five Star decided to allow their employees a chance to spend time with their families every Sunday and enjoy their lives on that day.  Also, it gives us as a company a chance to get together once a month to have fun and reward our employees for their hard work.  

We do realize that some customers liked coming in on Sundays, and it is never easy to cause any inconvenience to our customers.  I really do feel that this had led to a happier workforce that can provide better customer service to you.  We hope our customers can understand and even appreciate our decision to put people first.
